You, Me and Dupree

I watched You, Me and Dupree tonight. If you were watching TV tonight you would know I saw it on TBS. I am not going to lie, this was one that I wasn't interested in seeing when it came out in theaters. However, free on TV, can't go wrong. It wasn't the best movie I have ever seen but it had its moments.

The movie was written by Michael LeSieur and directed by Anthony and Joe Russo. The movie stars Owen Wilson, Kate Hudson, Matt Dillon, Michael Douglas, and Seth Rogen.

Carl (Matt Dillon) falls in love with Molly (Kate Hudson). Carl and Molly get married. Molly's father Mr. Thompson (Michael Douglas) is super protective of his daughter. She is his only child and Molly's mother has passed away. Carl asks Dupree (Owen Wilson) to be his best man. Dupree is a crazy nomad of sorts who means well but often gets himself in troublesome situations. Carl works for Mr. Thompson and Mr. Thompson makes his life hell at work. As a matter of fact, Mr. Thompson pursues every avenue possible to split Carl and Molly up. Tensions start to arise between Molly and Carl. Carl is suffering at work because of Mr. Thompson but Molly wants to defend her dad. Dupree is causing all sorts of mayhem while he is temporarily staying at Carl and Molly's house. Even to the point that Carl is suspicious Dupree is trying to get frisky with Molly. Carl loses it and decides to take off for a couple of days. Dupree sees the problems he has been causing and vows to do what it takes to get Carl back and help Carl and Molly resolve the problems they've been having. Dupree is able to track Carl down and helps him confront Mr. Thompson. Carl successful confronts Mr. Thompson. With Dupree and Mr. Thompson on Carl's team, Carl returns home to work things out with Molly. I'm sure you can guess the ending from here.

Like I said earlier, the movie isn't the greatest. It does have its moments and some of those moments are pretty funny. It is a fun little movie to watch if you feel like laughing. It would also be perfect if your significant other requires a chick flick out of you from time to time. It's perfect because you get the chick flick romance side but you also get plenty of laughs. Chick flicks are best when the romance is balanced out with something like comedy.

Other information:
Owen Wilson's next project to be released is Night at the Museum: Battle at the Smithsonian.
Matt Dillon is starring in a movie titled Old Dogs alongside John Travolta and Robin Williams.
Michael Douglas is in Ghosts of Girlfriends Past, which is being released this next weekend.

  2. That is a wise idea. Not the greatest romantic comedy out there.
